It’s been a very long time since I’ve done a whole room reveal, actually it seems like I haven’t done many at all since I moved into our new home. I have a hard time doing room reveals because my rooms are never done and never feel like they aren’t photo worthy. (I need to get over that.)
The laundry room was one of the first projects we started on when we moved into our home. I did a post on the laundry room way back when if you want to read it please click here.
Here’s a little sneak at what I was dealing with…(this is a long post so be warned!)
Your eyes aren’t deceiving you there are in fact two colors in the laundry room and neither of them match the tile floor. I’m not sure what the reason was to paint this room this color, this room wasn’t decorated in any matter whatsoever. It bothered me (shocker) so I immediately painted the room a neutral off-white.
I’m going to go right to the after photo so the photos will be close to each other so you can compare the two.
The room is not only our laundry room but it’s our mudroom right off the garage so the room is used for multiple reasons. It’s where our coats and shoes go, where laundry is done and where all the cleaning supplies and extras (toilet paper, paper towels, etc.) go. Storage was needed desperately because I needed to store a lot in this room and I like things put away and behind closed doors. (To hide the chaos.)
There’s a bit of a map theme going on in the room, I’m not typically a theme type of person but I do collect things so I decided to put my map type items in the laundry room. This is a super cool poster I bought from Silver in the City (one of my favorite stores in Indy) and is a map of all the neighborhoods in Indianapolis.
The next photo is another before photo…
I decided to take the sink out of the laundry room. I didn’t need a sink in this room. If I have delicates to wash I usually just wash them in my bathroom sink. (It’s just how I roll.) I did however have a utility sink installed in our garage and use it for cleaning paint brushes and for cleaning my gardening tools.
Here’s the after photo of the above area…
Lots of cabinets were put in and the fluorescent lighting was taken out and replaced with light fixtures from School House Electric. (My favorite light source.) The hardware on the cabinets match the lighting. (It’s all about the details.)
Another before picture…
Like I mentioned there was zero storage in this room!
The after…
If you look up on top of the cabinets I’ve got my antique globe collection. We also keep a phone, iPod charger station in this spot of the house and everyone is forbidden from stealing the charger cords. (Does anyone else deal with lost charger cords?)
The backsplash is wainscoting and it’s also used on the wall where our hooks and shoe storage is. The stool came from a family member wanting to get rid of it. I did a dip legged treatment on it to add a little something to the piece.
The large map was purchased at Midland Antiques and is an antique school map. It’s one of my favorite things!
So there you have it the laundry room reveal!!

Oh my goodness-love, love, love it! So clean, crisp, and beautiful!
I love, love, love this! Especially since I am redecorating our mud room/laundry room. I am adding cabinets and counter as well. I was struggling with colors. I think I might embrace the black. As always, great job! You are so talented! Thanks for sharing. Take care!
Looks so good! Can’t wait until the day I get to tackle our laundry room. Beautiful job
I LOVE your laundry redo. I’m still dreaming of mine (which is just a closet really) but it will have to wait for a bit longer. Love all the maps in your room. We adore maps around here. Amazing job!
Thanks everyone for the nice comments!!!
Our loft has become the map room, while in Indy I saw the Indianapolis neighborhood map, I wasn’t able to get it, they were sold out. Love your laundry room!
Hi Lori, Silver in the City just posted on their FB page they have more Indy neighborhood posters if you’re interested, plus they’ll mail it to you! That be a great piece for your loft!! I hope you guys are having a great summer!!!
Congrats. This turned out wonderfully. I was so smitten that I featured your post on this week’s Motivated Monday at BeColorful. Thanks so much for linking up.

Love the room. Could you please tell me the paint colors you used. I thank you for your time
It’s linen by Restoration Hardware…I hope this helps!
Hi! Your laundry room came out beautiful! I am remodeling mine now as well, and I was wondering if you would share where you got your cabinets and what kind of counter you used (color and product). Also, where did you get the bench? it would be perfect for my project! Thanks so much, I am using the same color schemes and you would be making my hunt for the right products easier!
The cabinets and countertop came from Lowes, unfortunately the countertop has been discontinued but it’s simply a laminate and is a charcoal black and gray color. The bench is from Home Depot from the Martha Stewart line. I hope this helps.
Thx so much! One more question, are they the stock cabinets that Lowe’s sells or are they special order?
They are stock cabinets but I did have special crown molding placed on top of the cabinets for a more customized look. Hope this helps!
