Hello and welcome to what is soon to be renamed, Laurie Jones at Home or if you’ve followed me for awhile House to Your Home. I thought it was time to write a new about page because my path in life has changed quite a bit since I originally wrote my original about page.
I have been blogging since 2009 and during that time I quit my job as a paralegal and went back to school to study interior design, I opened a booth at an antique store and I have sold my merchandise at some really cool local stores in Indianapolis.
On October 15th, 2012 my world as I knew it changed and after several heart breaking losses I finally had my beautiful baby boy. Through this journey I learned I needed to slow down, enjoy my family and enjoy the process of making my house into a home my family enjoys spending time in.
I am a 40 (something) year old mother to Sloan who is a 14 year old freshmen in high school (who will be gone before I know it) Cooper my sweet 3 month old (and counting) baby boy and wife to D who travels more then he is actually at home.
I’ve learned with turning 40 there are some positives and the big one is being ok with not following what everyone else is doing. I love interior design, love knowing what the trends are but at 40 I don’t feel the need to make my home look like everyone else’s. My style is traditional yet modern and it’s taking me a long time to come to terms with this but it may be a bit country (modern) country that is or maybe it’s just an organic vibe. I’ll figure it out and let you know!! I like good pieces and don’t mind investing on things that are going to stand the test of time but I still love a great thrift store find too!
Our life is crazy and hectic but I’m going to do my best this year to figure out the path of my career, entertain family and friends more and catch up on some projects that include organizing, remodeling, gutting and sprucing up my own home.
